University technical table for accessibility
It is a project aimed at addressing in an organic and coordinated manner, through the involvement of different University Offices and experts, the accessibility problems present in different areas and various contexts of the University of Padova, in particular with reference to accessibility:
- of the entrance tests
- web content (in collaboration with ASIT and Public Engagement)
- of the educational and training content of the PTA
- of classrooms
- to the University's heritage and libraries by students
The final intent of the Technical Table is, in addition to improving the accessibility of the tools, resources, and content produced by the University, to spread awareness and skills on accessibility issues.
The objectives of the Working Table are
- To raise awareness of the issue of accessibility and generate widespread accessibility skills in the University
- Experimenting and sharing good practices and the introduction of new tools/resources for the creation of accessible products (e.g. placement tests, educational content)
- Monitor accessibility at the University and draw up a University report on accessibility, to identify priority lines of action and intervention (also in collaboration with other Tables and working groups)
Provisions and information for creating accessible pdfs for online publication.
All documents uploaded to Moodle are monitored and verified by a software called Brickfield Accessibility toolkit, which provides the lecturer with real-time visual diagnostics on the degree of accessibility and indications for improving accessibility.
As part of the University's inclusive policies and trajectories aimed at promoting the right to education and accessibility in its various components, particular attention is given to the accessibility of admission tests.
The Vademecum contains some general indications on the most effective ways to read aloud and a part of the "glossary" that aims to be of help in reading the most complex questions, which provide some specific knowledge of the scientific fields proposed in the questions.
The objective of the Vademecum is to allow all candidates who request it to have the support of a human reader (university tutor, family member, friend, neighbor) to face the TOLC @CASA in conditions of equal opportunity.
To ensure the accessibility of the admission tests produced by our University, the Inclusion sector of the Student Services Office has set in motion a series of meetings aimed at disseminating and perfecting a vademecum for the creation of admission tests accessible to anyone, thanks to the collaboration of the presidents of the courses of study and the contact persons for inclusion.
