Environmental sustainability
We are inspired by a vision in which sustainability and inclusion are linked: we affirm a culture based on universal values such as human rights, peace, environmental protection and promote it through daily actions.
"UniPadova Sostenibile" is our project that catalyzes initiatives in favor of sustainability.
We want to raise awareness of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, we organize courses dedicated to sustainability issues, and we promote teaching that is open to the territory and inclusive
We promote cycling and the use of means of transport with a lower environmental impact; We promote sustainable and inclusive modes of transport for employees and students
We promote the principles of Green Public Procurement, we encourage separate collection, the reduction of the consumption of single-use plastic and the consumption of paper and toner, recycling and reuse
Since 2019, Unipd has been using only electricity from renewable sources in all its buildings, over 160 and located in the Padua, Chioggia and Bressanone sites. This choice makes it possible to reduce emissions by more than 18,500 tons of CO2, corresponding to 55% of those due to energy consumption and 21% of the total.
Our commitment is translating, day by day, into building and plant renovation interventions with the aim of reducing consumption, making our facilities more efficient and reducing the impact of our activities on the environment.
In December 2024, the international agency QS published the results of the third edition of the QS Sustainability 2025 ranking, in which we rank 110th in the world and first in Italy. In this edition, the institutions considered increased from 1,403 to 1744 universities, of which 52 were Italian.
