Artistic, historical and cultural heritage

Silent witnesses of the long history of the University of Padua are also the palaces and monumental buildings that preserve centuries of knowledge and academic life. From Palazzo del Bo, the historic beating heart of the University, to the elegant frescoed rooms of Palazzo Cavalli, each building tells the story of the past of the University and of the city.

Alongside these masterpieces of the past, today the University also looks to the future through urban regeneration and sustainable architecture projects . The twentieth-century buildings, created to meet the new needs of teaching and research, are flanked by new construction sites that redesign the university space with technologically advanced and environmentally friendly solutions. From the renovation of the Beato Pellegrino complex, intended for the humanities, to the most recent creations signed by internationally renowned architects, the University still proposes itself as a laboratory of ideas, experimentation and contemporary beauty.

Among the most significant symbols of this dialogue between past and future is the Botanical Garden, the oldest university garden in the world and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site which, together with the Biodiversity Garden, presents itself as a synthesis of science, history, nature and contemporary architecture.
