  Official Register (“Albo di Ateneo”)

It is the repository of all rulings and official decrees issued by the University of Padua and it serves as a legally binding form of public notice, in accordance with the Italian Law. It lists several vacancies and selection announcements for the awarding of research grants (e.g. “Bando di selezione per il conferimento di assegni per lo svolgimento di attività di ricerca”) and academic positions that are available here.

  STARS@UNIPD Funding Programme

The STARS funding programme is launched every 2 years (new edition is expected in 2021). It is addressed to young pioneers of frontier research, offering support to ground-breaking ideas with definite potential to turn into competitive proposals for the prestigious ERC grants. STARS grants are open to all scientific areas and will support two-year research projects to be developed in one of the 32 Departments of the University of Padua.

  Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (“MIUR”) Portal

The MIUR website dedicated to calls for research proposals provides all the information related to calls for research grants and fixed-term researchers communicated by Italian universities, public research and experimentation entities.   MSCA DN – Doctoral Networks, ESR/PhD Positions

One Doctoral candidate (DC)/PhD vacancy is available at the University of Padova (Italy) for highly motivated doctoral candidate as part of the new Horizon Europe, EU-funded, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Networks “HOMTech - Optical fiber higher order mode technologies and their application within communication, sensing and bio imaging” project (GA # 101072409).

The research topic of the position is the following:
Project DC #6: Distributed characterization and sensing using HOM fibres
Objectives: The main objective of the PhD program is to develop novel and effective models and data analysis algorithms to characterize the local properties of HOM fibres by analysing the Rayleigh scattering of the fibre.
At University of Padova the research/training of the successful candidate will be carried out within the Department of Information Engineering, under the guidance of Professor Luca Palmieri. Other supervisors will join during the secondment periods.
The DC is expected to join the University of Padova no later than October 2023 (estimated).

  MSCA IF - Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships (IF) are one of the actions through which the European Commission financially supports international mobility of experienced researchers within European Countries or between a European country and a country outside Europe. MSC fellows carry out their own research project in collaboration with a host institution, which is indicated at the time of their application. Researchers of all ages, nationalities and scientific disciplines can apply.

Other opportunities

  EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Fellowships are awarded for a period of up to two years and support excellent postdoctoral researchers in laboratories throughout Europe and the world. International exchange is a key requirement. Now awarding grants for employment contracts in EMBC countries, EMBO Fellowships also support the career development of the fellows through leadership courses and networking opportunities.

Application deadline: There are no application deadlines but there are two annual evaluation deadlines for EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships: Second Friday of February (Spring Selection Round) and Second Friday of August (Autumn Selection Round)

  EMBO Short-Term Fellowships

Short-Term Fellowships fund research exchanges of up to three months between laboratories in eligible countries. Short-Term Fellowships are not awarded for exchanges between two laboratories within the same country.

Application deadline: There is no deadline for applications, however it is recommended to apply three months before the proposed starting date.
