May 25, 2026
The University of Padova is confirmed as the first Italian generalist public state university for results obtained in the 5x1000 scientific research category. According to official data for the 2025 financial year, the University has collected over 510 thousand euros thanks to 9,414 signatures.
A result that marks significant growth compared to 2024: the amount raised increased by 29.2% (from 395 thousand to over 510 thousand euros), the number of choices grew by 17.1% (from 8,039 to 9,414 signatures) and the average value of the donation per taxpayer also increased, from 49.15 to 54.22 euros (+10.3%).
"The result achieved is a source of great satisfaction for our University, but above all a strong and clear signal of trust from the community," says Daniela Mapelli, rector of the University of Padova . A deep thank you goes to all the people who have chosen us: it is a trust that we consider first of all a responsibility, a promise to be kept and a pact to be honored every day, with seriousness, transparency and commitment".
For the rector, the 5x1000 "is not only an economic support, but an act of conscious participation, which reminds us how much scientific research is perceived as a common good, capable of generating value for society as a whole".
Even considering the total number of signatures, the University of Padova is confirmed as the first among Italian public state universities: a figure that testifies not only to the economic value collected, but above all to the breadth of participation and trust expressed by the taxpayer community.
The result highlights the growing attention to the research developed by the University and the concrete impact that community support can generate on scientific projects, innovation and the training of new generations of researchers.
