Former Storione Hotel
Work will start in April 2026 on the construction site of the former Storione hotel, located in front of the Palazzo Bo and purchased by the University of Padova on 24 April 2024 for 21.5 million euros.
After the renovation work, the building will be the campus of studies and offices of the University and will accommodate about 300 people.
The building located in the Canton del Gallo, in via VIII Febbraio, was designed in its reconstruction of the sixties by the Milanese architect and designer Gio Ponti. It consists of six floors above ground and two underground floors, for a total gross area of 9,370 square meters. Commercial activities on the ground floor and the related appurtenant warehouses on the first basement floor are excluded.
"In the former Storione hotel, a historic building in front of Palazzo Bo, there will be central offices and studios, also allowing to reduce the rents of the University - recalled Daniela Mapelli, rector of the University of Padova -. This is a very important acquisition, which implements a fundamental piece of the University's strategic plan and building master plan. This acquisition is also guided by the goal of improving the working conditions of everyone, guaranteeing adequate space for a constantly expanding University."
