Landscape School “Emilio Sereni”: lost and rediscovered landscapes

From August 25 to 29, 2026, the Scuola di Paesaggio “Emilio Sereni” returns to Casa Cervi, in Gattatico (Reggio Emilia), promoted by the Istituto Alcide Cervi and directed by Rossano Pazzagli of the Università del Molise.

The 18th edition, dedicated to the theme  “Lost Landscapes / Rediscovered Landscapes” , offers five days of multidisciplinary training to reflect on transformed, erased, or abandoned landscapes, and on the possibilities for regenerating territories.

Opening the School, on Tuesday, August 25 at 3 pm, is the lectio magistralis by Marco Paolini, Atlante delle Rive, open to the public: a collective narrative dedicated to the rivers and waters of Italy, in dialogue with the theme of this edition.

The program includes lectures, workshops, editorial presentations, field visits, exhibitions, and public events, involving universities, research bodies, foundations, and landscape professionals. The sessions address three perspectives: Lost Landscapes, Rediscovered Landscapes, and Landscapes in the Making.

Participation is possible in person or online. For students, PhD students, and those affiliated with the University of Padua, a partner university, the discounted fee is required: 260 euros for the all-inclusive option and 160 euros for the basic option. Alternatively, participation via webinar costs 80 euros for the entire cycle of lectures, or 30 euros for a single day.

Scholarships, professional training credits pending accreditation, and validity for the professional development of lecturer staff through the S.O.F.I.A. platform are provided.

The School is organized by the Istituto Alcide Cervi with fifteen Italian universities, under the patronage of numerous national bodies and with the contribution of CIA – Agricoltori Italiani.
