Padua Gastrointestinal Week. Lower GI Surgery

Five days of advanced surgical training spanning anatomy, dissection on bodies donated to science, live surgery and outpatient functional diagnostics, with lecturers from across Italy and participants from all over the world.
The ECM course "Padova Gastrointestinal Week. Lower GI Surgery" takes place at the Institute of Human Anatomy of the University of Padua, which hosts the National Reference Centre for the Preservation and Use of the Bodies of Deceased Persons.
The distinctive feature of the third edition is that it offers 360-degree training by building a pathway that guides young surgeons from knowledge of anatomy, through the diagnostic pathway, to the therapeutic choice and the performance of the operation. The first days are in fact devoted to surgical anatomy and to dissection on bodies donated to science, while the practical sessions address the main techniques of laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery.
Those attending the course also take part in the activities of specialist outpatient clinics in pathophysiology and functional diagnostics and can observe live surgery procedures. Lastly, the use of artificial intelligence is discussed.
In the 2026 edition, the aim is to propose a training model that combines diagnosis, therapeutic indication and clinical treatment so as to test the entire decision-making process of modern surgery.
Participation is subject to payment of a registration fee.
