Tartini explorations at Santa Caterina

On the afternoon of Saturday 5 September 2026, the Santa Caterina campus of the Department of Statistical Sciences of the University of Padua will host an event dedicated to discovering the city’s historical, artistic and musical heritage as part of the initiative "Esplorazioni tartiniane", promoted by the association Tartini2020.
The initiative offers a cultural walk in the footsteps of Giuseppe Tartini, discovering the places in the neighbourhood where the celebrated violinist lived and worked. The guided tour, led by Caterina Tiso, provides an in-depth look at the history of the Scuola delle Nazioni, an important women’s musical institution in eighteenth-century Veneto, and the figure of the violinist Maddalena Lombardini, a pupil of Tartini.
The itinerary includes a visit to the former Convent of Santa Caterina and the Church of Santa Caterina, now part of the Santa Caterina campus, home to the Department of Statistical Sciences of the University of Padua.

At the end of the tour, at 17:30, the Church of Santa Caterina will host a free-admission concert with Artem Dzeganovskyi (violin) and Anna Sakharova (cello), introduced by Angela Forin. The musical programme includes performances of the Sonata GT 2.g10 "Didone abbandonata" by Giuseppe Tartini, L'ombre de Tartini op. 40 by Michel Woldemar and Catarina II by Gianni Giacomazzo.
