The University of Padua offered up to 23 scholarships to support Afghan students finding themselves in a dangerous situation following the worsening of the political situation in Afghanistan.

Amount of scholarship: fee-waiver + €12,000 scholarship (gross amount) per a.y. The only amount to be paid by beneficiary students for each year consists of an admission fee, corresponding to the regional tax and marca da bollo.

Duration: the scholarship has a maximum duration of:

  • 2 continuous years for Master’s degree candidates;
  • 3 continuous years for Bachelor’s and Single-Cycle degree candidates.

Who can apply: you can be considered for the selection procedure, under penalty of exclusion, if you meet the requirements below:

  • students with Afghan citizenship residing outside Italy already admitted to the University’s degree programmes for the a.y. 2022/23;

OR

  • students who fled from Afghanistan by airlift or other means as a result of the political deterioration in Afghanistan, and who apply to one or more English-taught degree programmes according to the procedures and within the deadlines set;

OR

  • students deemed eligible as a result of the extraordinary Call for selection opened from the 20th September 2021 to the 21st October 2021

How to apply: All the students fulfilling the above-mentioned requirements who applied for enrolment for the 2022/23 academic year are automatically admitted to selection. Neither a separate application form nor further documents are needed in addition to those required for applying for the chosen degree programme.

Selection criteria: A dedicated University Committee shall assess the applications for the sole purpose of awarding of scholarships. These latter will be awarded by to the most deserving candidates, on the basis of the quality and results of their previous academic career, their linguistic competence, and motivation.

Selection results: The results of the selection and the awarding of the scholarships will be made available on the University’s website starting from June 10, 2022.

Acceptance: selected candidates will receive a specific communication from the Admissions and Welcome Unit of the Global Engagement Office indicating the methods and timing for accepting the financial benefit and according to the modalities indicated in the call for applications.

Payments arrangements and maintenance requirements: the scholarship will be paid in three (3) instalments during the academic year upon achievement of the merit requirements indicated in the Call for applications.

The merit conditions required to maintain the scholarship also in the following academic years are detailed in the Call for applications.

Revocation: the University of Padua will revoke the scholarship if you fail to meet the maintenance requirements by the deadlines set in the Call for Applications.Detailed information on the scholarshipare available in the Call for applications attached below
