Language policies for local and global communication

With the document "Language policies for local and global communication", the University of Padua provides guidelines on the use of Italian and English languages in the institutional communication of the University and outlines the measures to be taken in order to guarantee inclusive and effective intercultural communication.

This University encourages to use the Italian language in all moments of university and academic life, not only as a means of creating, sharing and transferring knowledge, but also to produce social cohesion; it promotes an inclusive and equal use of the language that conveys the values of equity, openness and inclusion, inspiring values of the University Statute.

Unipd also promotes a multilingual life and the learning of content through English or other vehicular languages to encourage the development of an international academic community, facilitate intercultural communication and cooperation at all levels of training and research. Through this document, therefore, we also want to support researchers in the achievement of the language skills necessary to participate fully in the global scientific dialogue.

Further objectives of this document are to give specialised linguistic training for academic, technical and administrative staff in order for them to provide high quality services and guarantee international competitiveness; establish, control and support the achievement and maintenance of the knowledge of academic language requirements for students and staff, both for Italian and English; provide guidelines on the language quality of courses and courses taught in English.
