The building engineer-architectural engineer deals with the typological, compositional, structural and technological properties of building works, supervising their design, transformation and restoration in relation to the natural, social, economic and productive context in which they are placed. Occupational areas include applied research, design of construction works, planning and management of complex territorial systems, infrastructure networks; recovery and restoration of the historical buildings heritage; employment in design firms, industries, companies, quality control, safety services, in technical offices of public administrations and industry companies.

Characteristics and objectives
The Building engineer - Architect deals with the typological, compositional, structural and technological characteristics of the building works. He takes care of their design, transformation and restoration in relation to their natural, social, economic and productive context in which they are placed. The degree programme in Building Engineering and Architecture is multidisciplinary: it integrates technical-scientific disciplines, with others of a humanistic nature, so as to provide all the knowledge tools necessary for the design. The teaching method makes extensive use of design and experimental workshops, through team-work in constant interaction with the teaching staff.

Typical professional fields for the graduate include: applied research, advanced and innovative design in the field of construction works, planning and management of territorial systems, design of infrastructure networks, design and implementation process of the recovery and restoration of heritage historical buildings.
