Characteristics and objectives
The degree program trains professionals capable of integrating third sector entities or institutions that cooperate with third sector entities, such as banking foundations and public administrations. Combining an in-depth legal preparation with a foundational understanding of sociological, psychological and economic subjects, the Course aims to teach competence and skills applicable to volunteerism, social enterprise, public sector, as well as in the legal parallels of these subjects.

The Course is developed around everything that, in terms of experience, concerns the Third sector or its activities, so that even the basic concepts are illustrated in a way to enhance their importance in all third sector contexts. The purpose is to enable students to develop analytical skills in the context by which students are already involved or to which they will want to dedicate their profession. During the first year, which is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals required for the acquisition of sophisticated legal skills and for operating in the aforementioned contexts, the degree program provides a highly cultural education starting from the historical and philosophical foundations, which represent the roots that lead the West to the recognition of those collective subjects who pursue ideal, religious, philanthropic, and more socially useful purposes, in every sphere and with different modalities, up to the most recent developments, with attention to the discipline of European and international law.

The second and the third year of the Course is committed to an in-depth analysis, for instance, in the study of social enterprise and the discipline of banking foundations, that aid in the understanding of studies in sociology and multiculturalism issues regarding the possible conflict between rules inspired by different ideologies. Third sector finance and financial law, as well as teaching relating to fiscal law and accounting, built as integrated courses of a legal-economic nature, represent one of the main characteristics of the course which aims to propose an overview of the inherent problems in the management of third sector entities in order to provide qualified professional education. The teachings are largely enriched by the practical-applicative dimension through workshops to encourage learning through the analysis of concrete cases in dialogue with the professor. The professor aims to not only to share information, but above all to strengthen the problem-solving capability of the students and encouragement of critical thinking.
The course also provides the opportunity to choose from various elective courses, some of which have a strong application content such as the planning lab for social arena, or in-depth study relating to specific realities of the third sector in sport, psychological or educational services, in the cultural and tourism fields, or in health care.

Occupational opportunities
The degree in Third Sector Law paves the way to management and executive opportunities within the non-profit entities, in social enterprises and in those that interact with the Third sector or have adopted practices of social responsibility, as well as in administration or social planning consultancy, in international organizations that carry out social activities or in support of social and voluntary work.
