In the definition proposed by the WHO, health is not just the absence of disease, but a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being: the purpose of those involved in prevention is therefore not to cure, but to work to preserve this state of well-being. Providing the skills to operate even at top levels in the care and prenevtion fields is the goal of this course, which develops an integrated approach to the organisational and managerial issues of the health professions. You will also deal with techniques and procedures derived from managing, planning and evaluating prevention programmes, optimising human, technological, structural and financial resources and taking care of training on the subject. You may work at local health companies, regional agencies for environmental prevention or hospital health departments.

Characteristics and objectives
The course provides a cultural and professional advanced preparation that allows to intervene with high skills in the care, management, training, research and preventive processes in the areas of the health professions included in the class (prevention technician in the environment and in the workplace and healthcare assistant) in response to the primary health problems of individuals and communities in living and working environments at different ages.
The course develops an integrated approach to the organizational and managerial problems of the prevention and assistance health professions, and the mastery of management techniques and procedures. In particular, the skills to be acquired concern the monitoring and evaluation of data pertaining to the organization and management of health and territorial services; the management of the available human, technological, structural, information and financial resources, evaluating the cost/benefit ratio in an optimization perspective; research methods and tools; the impact on the activities of different theoretical models; training interventions for basic, complementary and permanent professional development based on the analysis of need.

Occupational opportunities
These professionals find employment in the Public administration within the prevention and protection Services of the local health Companies or regional Agencies for environmental prevention; in the prevention Departments, in the health directorates of hospitals or local social-health companies, with the possibility to also access the managerial career. In the private sector they assume the role of responsible for integrated systems for quality, environment and safety.
