Characteristics and objectives
Internet, Multimedia and Telecommunications Engineering is a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree that trains students in the fields of Internet network systems, technologies and protocols, security in data and signal communication, and multimedia signal creation, processing and transmission. The degree course is strongly interdisciplinary - it encompasses basic subjects such as mathematics, physics, and computer science, specific courses on Internet technologies and its security, multimedia signal processing and transmission, and cross-disciplinary subjects on resource optimization and planning, numerical simulation, programming, and machine learning for information technologies. The course also offers many different laboratory activities with a problem solving-oriented approach, which allow students to learn to work in a team, think critically, and get hands-on experience on what they have studied in the other subjects. Through the combination of theoretical subjects and laboratory classes, students will master cutting-edge mathematical and programming tools, and will be exposed to real-world problems reflecting industry applications and needs.
Job opportunities
This BS degree prepares students for employment in the private and public sectors. Some examples include: junior engineer in ICT companies; network administrator and administrator of communication and multimedia service platforms; communication and data collection protocol developer for Internet, industrial and sensor networks and the Internet of Things (IoT), etc.; expert in the digitalization, transmission and processing of multimedia signals; expert in the integration and customization of ICT systems.
From Bachelor's degree to Master's degree
This BS course provides an interdisciplinary preparation that gives access also to other MS degrees in the Information Engineering field.
