Engineering - Chemical-Subject 2026-150
This Master's degree programme offers a broad and strongly interdisciplinary educational path aimed at training graduates able to work autonomously in a productive context based on the principles of the circular economy (CE) and sustainability. Students will gain in-depth knowledge of the entire value chain underlying a circular economy model; great emphasis is also placed on the development of technical and scientific skills and competences. After a common first year, students will be able to choose between two different curricula: Energy conversion and storage, focused on topics related to energy conversion and storage, and Resources and product design and recycling, focused instead on the design of materials and products for circularity.
Characteristics and objectives
The Master's Degree Programme (CLM) in Sustainable Chemistry and Technologies for Circular Economy (Chimica e tecnologie sostenibili per l'economia circolare), delivered in English, offers an in-depth and highly interdisciplinary programme aimed at training professionals to be employed in companies or public bodies that apply a circular economy model to production and services. Students will be trained on the entire value chain on which the circular economy model is based; however, particular emphasis will be placed on scientific and technical skills and competencies, with specific reference to the chemical field, complemented by knowledge in the economic, managerial, legal, psychosocial, and statistical fields. The educational pathway includes a common first year and two different curricula, one focused on energy conversion and storage, the other on resources and product design and recycling.
To enrol in this CLM, students must hold a bachelor's degree, a three-year university diploma, or another qualification obtained in Italy or abroad and recognized as suitable under current legislation, and must meet specific curricular requirements, as well as possess B2-level English proficiency and receptive skills (reading and listening).
As regards internationalization, this will be implemented through teaching contributions from foreign lecturers and qualified staff from foreign companies and institutions, Erasmus mobility making use of the numerous active agreements in the field of chemistry at the University of Padua, and promotion of the programme among international students (EU and non-EU).

Career opportunities
After obtaining the master's degree, immediate entry into the job market is expected, possibly following the passing of the State Examination and enrolment in the Register of Physicists and Chemists.
Graduates may find employment as i) sustainability and corporate social responsibility managers (CSR managers) and ii) circular economy managers (CE managers). This second professional figure will be responsible for communication with the various company departments in order to bring together the components of the value chain (resource procurement and supply, product design and production, recycling, waste management, integrated logistics). In addition, graduates may work as consultants (either as external professionals or within a company).
