Dr. Biundo works as assistant professor at the Department of General Psychology at the University of Padua and as a neuropsychologist in the Neurological Clinic of the University Hospital of Padua. Her main research goals relate to the role of clinical neuropsychology in 1) identifying preclinical cognitive/behavioral diagnostic and prognostic indicators in neurodegenerative diseases, 2) improving differential diagnosis among various clinical subtypes of dementia, including Alzheimer's dementia, through the development of validated cognitive tools, 3) promoting remote neuropsychological monitoring with the support of artificial intelligence (AI) 4) identifying indicators of efficacy of neuro-rehabilitation treatments. As a psychotherapist, she aims to improve the quality of life and resilience of patients and their caregivers. She is co-chair of the special interest group on movement disorders at the International Society of Neuropsychology (INS) and coordinates several international consortia and task forces focused on cognitive deficits in patients with movement disorders. She chairs several courses on differential diagnosis in neurodegenerative diseases and on disorders in the affective and behavioral spheres in movement disorders. She has published more than 80 indexed manuscripts and several book chapters (30 H index). She has won several grants as a PI and collaborates on several European Horizon projects on movement disorders. She is a member of the corporate table for Parkinson's disease, and his main contribution concerns the drafting of guidelines for cognitive diagnosis and rehabilitation in this disease.

Research Area
Research area:
Having five main research interests related to Parkinsons and other movement disorders. The first is to understand and define cognitive and behavioural changes in parkinsonisms (PSP, MSA, CBS, DLB, HD) and their clinical predictors. In this regards, aiming 1) to identify the feasibility and sensitivity of cognitive tests in detecting and monitoring cognitive decline in dementia patients; 2) to implement Italian validation “PD with mild cognitive” criteria; and 3) to build up a healthy subjects database with valid information about cognitive and brain alterations progression from a healthy population-based study. This effort has been recently awarded by an NHS GR-2016-02361986 grant. The second is neuroimaging, with particular focus on the definition of specific brain neurochemical and network changes associated with neurodegeneration. MRI and fluorodeoxyglucose PET are used to understand alterations in brain networks and connectivity. The third is the neuromodulation by transcranial magnetic stimulation, to identify indicators of neurorehabilitation treatment efficacy. The fourth is development of innovative rehabilitation strategies and home monitoring. This effort has been awarded by a Horizon 2020 research grant. The fifth is focused on genetic profiles associated with cognitive and behavioural symptoms in degenerative disorders. Also aiming to improve quality of life and resilience of patients using tailored rehabilitative treatments.
