As Associate Professor at the University of Padova, she teaches History of Islamic Thought, History of Medieval Arabic Philosophy and Arabic Language and Literature. She is member of the “Accademia Galileiana di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti”, of the scientific committee of the Centre “Greco Arabo Latino: Incontro di Culture” (Padua-Pisa), co-director of Medioevo. Rivista di Storia della filosofia medievale, member of the editorial staff of Studia Graeco-Arabica, member of the advisory board of Mediterranea. International Journal on the Transfer of Knowledge, member of the scientific committee of Mediaevalia. Textos e estudos. She is Director of the Interdepartmental Centre for Research in Medieval Philosophy “Carlo Giacon” (CIRFIM http://cirfim.unipd.it/ ) where she is the principal investigator of the project “Supporting a 3‐year post‐graduate program on the Arabic transmission of learning in the Mediterranean area (8th‐12th centuries), November 2016 - December 2021, founded by Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation. In 2001 she held a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Padova. From 2000 to 2002 she was Kollegiatin of Graduiertenkolleg GRK 237 “Der Kommentar in Antike und Mittelalter” directed by prof. Wilhelm Geerlings, Ruhr-Universität (Bochum); Fachbereich Orientalistik (Islamwissenschaft), Hauptbetreuer Prof. Gerhard Endress, Ruhr-Universität (Bochum). She has been a postdoctoral Research Fellow in History of Medieval Arabic Philosophy at the University of Padua from 2003 to 2010 and from 2010 to 2015 she has been Research Fellow for the European Research Council Advanced Grant project n.249431 “Greek into Arabic”. P.I. Prof. Cristina D’Ancona at the University of Pisa. In 2018 she held the National qualification as Full professor in History of Philosophy. She is author of several books and articles. Among the others, ‘Abd al-Laṭīf al-Baġdādī’s Philosophical Journey. From Aristotle’s Metaphysics to the ‘Metaphysical Science’, Brill, Leiden Boston 2013. She has been awarded the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Award for Translation (Sixth edition, 2012-2013) for her translation of al-Fārābī, L’armonia delle opinioni dei due saggi Platone il divino e Aristotele, Preface by G. Endress, Introduction, Italian translation and commentary by C. Martini Bonadeo, Plus, Pisa 2008. Her research interests include the socio-cultural history of the translation movement from Greek into Arabic of philosophical and medical texts; the Arabic tradition of Aristotle’s Metaphysics; al-Fārābī’s thought (d. 950 AD); ‘Abd al-Laṭīf al-Baġdādī’s philosophy, medical works and travels of (d. 1231 AD).
