Diego Guidolin obtained his degree in Physics at the Padova University. During internships at the Institute of Human Physiology of the Modena University and at the Neuroscience Department of the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm he developed applications of analytical microscopy techniques (Cytometry, Stereology, Microdensitometry, Photometry and 3D reconstruction) to biological problems, with particular reference to the use of computer assisted Image Analysis methods in chemical neuroanatomy. As head of the Morphology and Analytical Microscopy unit of the FIDIA Research Laboratories (Padova, Italy) his activity was mainly focused on neurobiological and osteoarticular research programs. He is actually Assistant Professor at the Department of Neuroscience (Section of Anatomy) of the Padova University.
Current research activity:
• Heteroreceptor complexes and their involvement in physiological and pathological processes of the central nervous system.
• Non synaptic pathways for intercellular communication in the central nervous system, with particular reference to autocrine and paracrine modalities (Volume transmission).
• Quantitative methods in microanatomy and bioinformatics approaches to the study of protein structure and interaction
Member of the International Society of Analytical Cytometry (ISAC), of the European Microscopical Society (EMS), of the American Association of Anatomists (AAA), of the Società Italiana di Anatomia e Istologia (SIAI) and of the Società Italiana di Scienze Microscopiche (SISM), he is author in more than 280 publications (Scopus H-factor: 39; ISI H-factor: 37; Google Scholar H-factor: 45).
He is presently head of the course "Human morphology and biomedical sciences" for the degree course "Terapy of the neuro- and psychomotricity of the childhood", he teaches "Human Anatomy" for the degree course "Physiotherapy" and "Medical physiscs" for the degree course "Biomedical laboratory techniques". He performs supporting taeching activities of human anatomy in the degree course in "Medicine and Surgery" and in the international degree course "Cognitive neuroscience".
