Davide Del Col is full professor at the University of Padova, Italy, where he teaches "Renewable energy technologies" and "Refrigeration and heat pump technology".
He is the programme coordinator of the Master degree in Energy engineering.

He took his PhD on Energy Engineering at the University of Padova in 1999. He was visiting scholar at Pennsylvania State University, USA; Member of Scientific Council (SC) of ICHMT (International Centre for Heat and Mass Transfer); Member and Secretary of Commission B1 (Thermodynamics & transfer processes), IIR, Paris; Secretary of UIT (Italian Union of Thermal-Fluidynamics) and member of the Steering Committee of UIT; Associate of INFN (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare) in the framework of the Program ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) for the project on sensor cooling at CERN, Geneve. Member of Committee K-13 (Multiphase Heat Transfer), ASME.

Scientific coordinator of the international ESA project on Condensation in microgravity (16 partners from Europe and Canada). Leader of the Research group on Sustainable Thermal Energy Technologies at the Department of Industrial Engineering of University of Padova; Responsible of the Laboratory of Two-Phase Heat Transfer, Laboratory of Solar Energy Conversion and Laboratory of Refrigeration and heat pumps.
Scientific responsible and researcher in many projects projects, such as:
- UE - Horizon 2020, GEOTECH Geothermal technology for economic cooling and heating, 2015-2018
- ESA (European Space Agency) Condensation in microgravity 2015-2018
- EU FP7-ENERGY-2007-2-TREN Advanced ground source heat pump systems for heating and cooling in Mediterranean climate (GROUND-MED) 2009-2015
- EU FP6-2002-SME-2 Sustainable Heat and Energy Research for Heat Pump Applications (SHERHPA) 2007-2009
- EU FP5 RTN- IHP-RTN-00-2 Heat and Mass Transfer inside Microchannels (HMTMIC) 2002-2006.
- Convective condensation in microgravity, ESA Parabolic Flight Campaigns, in collaboration with University of Toulouse (France) and ULB Brussels (Belgium).

Inventor of three patents, two of them have been granted to private companies.

Author of more than 160 scientific publications cited in Scopus, with h_index=36.
