Marco Cullere graduated in Animal Science and Technology at the University of Padova, Italy (2010). In the same Institution, he got his PhD degree in Animal Science (2014) and did four years of postdoctoral fellowship (2014-2018). He is currently employed as fixed-term researcher (RTDb) at the Department of Animal Medicine, Production and Health - MAPS - of the University of Padova (scientific sector AGR20/small animals husbandry). The research activity is mainly devoted to the study of the effect of genetic, nutritional and environmental factors on the performances, physico-chemical-sensory-functional quality of the meat / products derived from rabbit, chicken, quail, fish and ostrich, with emphasis to the consumer's health. Further research topics are: study of the post-mortem strategies to improve the quality / shelf-life of meat and derived products using natural ingredients, study of the effect of various stunning techniques on the qualitative traits of rainbow trout fillets. Moreover, the main research topic of the last years has been the use of insects and derived products as alternative feed ingredients for poultry (quail and chicken) and rabbit species, in the perspective to improve the sustainability of livestock farming. The scientific production consists of more than 100 publications: 1 PhD thesis in Animal Sciences, 1 book chapter, 72 articles in scientific journals indexed Scopus, of which one was elected "Article of the month of December 2016" by the Editorial Board of the scientific journal (Animal), and more than 40 publications to national and international conference proceedings, including an invited main lecture at an international conference.
