SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS
His scientific production is focused mainly on comparative neuroendocrinology and neuroanatomy of large domestic herbivores, marine mammals, and man. He published papers on the organization and neurochemical properties of the hypothalamus and cerebral cortex of mammals and other vertebrates.
He studied the functional anatomy of marine mammals. In 2002 he founded the Mediterranean marine mammal tissue Bank (www.marinemammals.eu).
He published several scientific papers, >100 of which are currently listed in PubMed. He wrote university textbooks of anatomy and related disciplines for national and international publishers.

MEMBERSHIPS TO SCIENTIFIC SOCIETIES
Dr. Cozzi is member of the American Association of Anatomists, the European Association of veterinary Anatomists, and the Society for Neurosciences (U.S.A.).

GRANTS RECEIVED
Dr. Cozzi has received several Grants from Italian agencies such as the Italian Ministry for University and Scientific and Technological Research (MURST/MIUR - PRIN PI: 2001, 2006, 2016. PRIN Resp. Res.Unit: 1994, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004); the Italian Ministry for the Environment (PI: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2012/13; Resp. Res. Unit: 2009); the Italian National Research Council (C.N.R.: 1982/83, 1985, 1989); the Italian Society for Veterinary Sciences (S.I.S.Vet.: 1987); the Universities of Milan (1983 - 1998) and Padova (1998 onwards). He has received also Grants from the Jackson Foundation or the Advancement of Military Medicine (Washington, USA, 1991).
