Associate Professor in Pedology and Soil Chemistry, DAFNAE (University of Padua).
The main research topics are:
- biological activity of soil humic substances;
- biochemical and chemical characterization of humic materials from different sources as well as their effects on plant metabolism;
- evolution of organic matter both in fields and in pilot-composting experiments and the use of organic wastes in soil remediation;
- role of root exudates in the disaggregation of humic substances in the rhizosphere;
- pedological processes in cultivated and forest soils;
- role of organic matter within biomineralization processes (geochemical and sedimentological approach);
- biodiversity of soil bacterial and fungal community;
- accumulation and distribution pattern of macro- and microelements and trace elements in Vitis vinifera;
- use of vine shoots and vinasse for the production of compost;
- characterization of a microbial consortium ANAMMOX for the economical and environmentally-friendly removal of nitrogen from agro-industrial wastes;
- the development of genotyping techniques with high processivity for the identification of SNPs associated with resistance to rhizomania, fusariosis and nematodes, and to characters of the root system linked to productivity,
- the soil DNA extraction.
The research was funded by competitive national grants and by contracts and agreements with private firms.
Member of the Animal and Food Science doctoral course and member of the scientific societies SIPe, SICA, SISS and IHSS.
He is coauthor of 90 Scopus-ISIWeb papers, 29 non Scopus-ISIWeb documents (19 papers and 10 book chapters), a patent (PCT/I B2012/001157), over 150 contributions in national and international 3/2024); citations 3551, h-index 29 (source: www.scholar.google.it, 3/2024).
