Pietro Zanuttigh was born in 1978. He graduated in Computer Engineering at the University of Padova in 2003 and got the PhD from same university in 2007. He has been an assistant professor at the University of Padova from 2007 to 2020. From 2020 he is associate professor at the same university. He has also been a visiting researcher at the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia) in 2006 and in 2010. He works in the multimedia technology and telecommunications group and his research activity is focused on image and 3D data processing and understanding. His research interest includes semantic scene understanding, domain adaptation and incremental learning techniques for deep networks, 3D data acquisition, Time-of-Flight sensor data processing, gesture recognition, 3D shape classification and the compression of depth maps and multi-view representations. He is an associate editor of Springer's Visual Comptuter and an editorial board member of MDPI technologies. He has been a guest editor of IEEE Multimedia and of the International Journal of Digital Multimedia Broadcasting and a technical program committee member of various workshop and conferences. He has also organized the First IEEE International Workshop on Vision and Graphics Computing for Multimedia Communications (held in association with the ICME conference) and the GTTI Thematic Meeting on Multimedia Signal Processing. He has co-authored two books and many journal papers and conference proceedings.

His main research interests are:

Fusion of multiple sensors for 3D data acquisition (cameras and Time-Of-Flight sensors)

Time-of-Flight sensors data processing

Hand gesture recognition with depth data

Semantic segmentation from color and depth data

Knowledge Transfer techniques for deep networks

3D shape classification

Scalable compression of multi-view plus depth representations

Compression of depth maps

Transmission and interactive remote visualization of 3D scenes

Handheld scanning with depth cameras
