Domenico Salvagnin was born in 1981.
In 2005, he received his degree in Computer Science Engineering (cum laude) at the University of Padova.
In 2009, he got his PhD degree in Computational Mathematics (Operations Research) at the University of Padova.
He was assistant professor in Operations Research at DEI, University of Padova from 2011 to 2018.
He is associate professor in Operations Research at DEI, University of Padova since 2018 and got the National Academic Qualification as full professor in the same year.
His research interests include theory and algorithms for linear and mixed integer linear programming, constraint programming, and hybrid methods for optimization.
Domenico Salvagnin won the following prizes:
(a) Winner of the 11th DIMACS Implementation Challenge for the best computer codes for Steiner Tree problems (codes mozartballs, mozartduet and staynerd jointly developed with Matteo Fischetti, Markus Leitner, Ivana Ljubic, Martin Luipersbeck, Michele Monaci, Max Reschand Markus Sinnl), 2014.
(b) Computational Optimization and Applications 2016 Best Paper Award for the paper “On handling indicator constraints in mixed integer programming”, together with Pietro Belotti, Pierre Bonami, Matteo Fischetti, Andrea Lodi, Michele Monaci and Amaya Nogales-Gomez.
(c) CPAIOR 2019 Distinguished Paper Award for the paper “Some experiments with submodular function maximization via integer programming”.
(d) ICAPS 2019 Best Paper Award for the paper “Lagrangian Decomposition for Optimal Cost Partitioning”, together with Florian Pommerening, Gabriele Roger, Malte Helmert, Hadrien Cambazard and Louis-Martin Rousseau.
He is technical editor for Mathematical Programming Computation, and reviewer for many top-level journals in operations research.
He was lead development scientist in IBM ILOG CPLEX team in 2015-2017, and scientific consultant for IBM ILOG CPLEX in the period 2014-2019. He is scientific consultant for FICO XPRESS since 2019.
He was Program Chair (together with Michele Lombardi) and Conference Chair of the international conference CPAIOR2017.
He participated to several research projects supported by MIUR (Italy) and by the European Union.
He published more than 24 scientific papers on the top-level journals of the area, and 16 contributions in peer-reviewed conference proceedings.
