CURRENT POSITION: Associate Professor (since November 2020)

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES: His main research interests are focused on the biophysical mechanisms governing the long-distance transport of water (in the xylem) and sugars (in the phloem) and how they can be affected by climatic and biotic factors. In particular, he has investigated the effect of chronic drought stress on the anatomy and hydraulic properties of xylem and phloem. He has a well-established network of international collaborators from many different foreign institutes, with whom coauthored the scientific papers synthesizing the collaborations’ outcomes. He participated to international projects, and led a scientific field campaign to the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park to study the climate change effects on trees at one of the world’s highest treeline.
He has experience in organizing International workshops (Wood Anatomical Sectioning and Analyses, San Vito di Cadore, BL, 2015) and conferences (Fourth Xylem International Meeting, Padua 2019).

PUBLICATIONS
He published >40 articles, most of them on high ranked international journals (e.g., Ecology Letters, Global Change Biology, New Phytologist, and several others).
See the publication list in the attached .pdf file

DISSEMINATION AND EDITORIAL ACTIVITIES: He disseminated his researches at national and international conference, also as invited speaker (e.g. at the Gordon Research Conference on Multiscale Plant Vascular Biology, Mt. Snow, Vermont, USA in 2018) and upon invitation at Italian and foreign Academic Institutions. He has served as expert reviewer for several international journals with high impact factor (e.g., Nature Communications, Ecology Letters, Global Change Biology, New Phytologist, and many others).
