Full Professor. Professor of Sociology of Religion in the Master's Degree in Philosophical Sciences and of Sociology of Islam in the Master's Degree in Cultural Pluralism, Social Change and Migrations.
He is a member of the teaching staff of the international doctorate in Religion, Culture and Public Life.

1 October 2015- 30 September 2021: Vice-Rector of the University of Padua with responsibility for working and study conditions.
From 2013 to 2018 : President of the Degree Course in Sociological Sciences.
From 2011 to 2024 : member of the teaching staff of the Doctoral School in Social Sciences of the University of Padua.

He is the director of the Journal of Islam in Europe and in Mediterranean World,
Member of the Scientific Committee of the journal "Religions and Society"; of the Editorial Board of the magazine "History of Political Thought; of the Scientific Council of the International Forum Democracy and Religions (FIDR); of the Scientific Committee of "Reset Dialogue on Civilizations ".

He was a member of the Steering Committee of the International and European Forum for Research on Immigration (FIERI) and of the Editorial Board of the magazine "History of Political Thought";

He directed the editorial series "Frontiere" of Guerini e Associati.

In the field of "public sociology", he has collaborated/collaborates, on the research topics he deals with, with numerous Italian newspapers.
