I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Engineering (DEI). My research interests are focused on computer vision for robotic applications, intelligent video surveillance systems, pattern analysis and recognition, with a specific focus on people re-identification. I also work in the field of machine learning and deep learning for bio image analysis. Another topic is about industrial applications of robotics and computer vision. During my PhD I worked in the field of autonomous driving and pedestrian protection, with a focus on night vision in far infrared images.

I am the reference person for the research projects Eureca (aircraft robotic assembly) and Coroma (automatic analysis of industrial environments). I have co-founded Laura Sapiens, an innovative startup focused on innovative human-machine interface.

I have been visiting scholar at Oshkosh Truck Corp. (Oshkosh, WI, USA), 2007, University of Lincoln, UK, 2010, Sungkyungkwan University, Seoul, South Korea, 2014, University of Zurich, CH, 2016.
