Graduated in Architecture at University Institute of Architecture of Venice IUAV (Italy), Ph.D. in Applied Physics at University of Padova (Italy). He is Assistant Professor at Padova University and is in charge of the Acoustic Laboratory at the Department of Industrial Engineering since 2006. Formerly lecturer of Applied Acoustics at the Faculty of Engineering, Padova University, nowadays he is assistant professor of Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer in the same University.
His activity of research is mainly concerned with physics of the built environment, with particular reference to acoustics (properties of materials, sound absorption and insulation, outdoor noise reduction, optimisation of sound power emitted from machinery and equipment, HVAC noise) and indoor environmental quality (air quality, occupant control over lighting and thermal comfort).
He is a member of several working groups of ISO/TC043/SC02 and CEN/TC126. He is a member of Acoustics Committee of UNI (Italian National Standards Institute) and he is chair of working groups on equipment noise in buildings (SC1/GL3) and acoustic classification of buildings (SC1/GL 5).
He is full member of the Acoustical Society of Italy (AIA), member of the Board of Directors (2010-2017) and Secretary of the Board (2014-2017). He was member of the Board of the International Commission for Acoustics (ICA) (2016-2019) and, nowadays, he is ICA Secretary General (2019-2022). He was member of the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (2017-2021).
He is full member of the Acoustical Society of Italy (AIA), member of the Board of Directors (2010-2017) and Secretary of the Board (2014-2017). He is member of ICA Board (2016-2019) and IIAV Board of Directors (2017-2021).
He is Co-Editor of “Rivista Italiana di Acustica”, ISSN: 2385-2615, (2013-2022).
He is author of more than 200 scientific papers in the fields of acoustics and environmental control in buildings.
