Research Area

1. Research in pulmonary transplantation:
- study of the etiopathogenetic mechanisms of organ dysfunction, acute and chronic;
- clinical and experimental studies (in vitro and in vivo) of the etiopathogenesis of native pathologies such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD);
- study of humoral rejection, from a morphological and molecular point of view.
2. Research in the field of rare lung diseases of unknown etiology such as IPF:
- clinical and experimental studies (in vitro and in vivo) for a better understanding of the etiopathogenetic mechanisms.
3. Research on thymic neoplasms:
- morphological and molecular study of factors involved in angiogenesis and proliferation for a more appropriate diagnosis, prognostic stratification and targeted therapy.
4. Research on lung adenocarcinoma:
- research of morphological and molecular markers of prognostic stratification for a targeted therapeutic approach.
5. Research on neuroendocrine lung cancer:
- morphological and molecular study of factors involved in angiogenesis and proliferation for a more appropriate diagnosis, prognostic stratification and targeted therapy.
6. Research on malignant mesothelioma of the pleura:
- research of morphological and molecular markers of prognostic stratification and intended for a targeted therapeutic approach.
