This patent describes a system capable of efficiently converting the mechanical energy of the vibrations produced by a bicycle on the road into electrical energy. It will therefore be possible to power electronic devices (lights, speedometers) without the use of batteries, making bicycles an even more efficient and environmentally friendly means of transport.
Abstract:
The roughness of urban roads on which bicycles travel generates broadband vibrations centred on low frequencies. The energy harvesting devices currently available on the market are not capable of converting these stresses effectively into electrical energy. The patented device, on the other hand, makes it possible to recover energy from vibrations in order to power electronic devices on board unpowered means of transport, such as small lights, speedometers, clocks or other low-consumption devices. The system is able to tune a low-cost cantilever harvester to the typical vibrations of bicycles. The use of this device may also be extended to other means of transport not connected to the electricity grid, such as kayaks or small boats.
Description:
- Environmentally friendly energy recovery;
- Eliminates the use of batteries to power devices on bicycles;
- A device that can be produced at low cost.
Advantages:
- Devices for bicycles (lights, speedometers, clocks);
- Or for vessels without a power supply.
