The full admission procedures are set out in the admissions notice.

Please note: procedures carried out in ways or within timeframes different from those indicated in the admissions notice and on the University website pages expressly referred to therein will not be accepted.

Admission information at a glance

The following information is intended to provide a general overview of the course admission procedures, in order to facilitate completion of the necessary steps. However, you are advised to read the admissions notice, the official document for admission to the course.

To access the first year, it is necessary to pre-enrol and sit the admission test (TOLC-AV, or alternatively TOLC-E). The order in which these two operations are carried out does not matter, provided that they are completed within the prescribed deadlines; TOLC-AV is acquired automatically after the close of the pre-enrolment period for the selection in which you are participating, whereas TOLC-E must be uploaded in the “Management of qualifications and documents for assessment” section of the pre-enrolment procedure.

The merit rankings are then drawn up: if you are admitted in the merit rankings or in the subsequent reallocations and recoveries, you will be able to submit an online enrolment application, following the specific instructions for the selection in which you are enrolling:

The procedures and deadlines are set out in the admissions notice and differ for each selection.

Enrolment is finalised automatically with the assignment of the student ID number within a few working days from the time it is submitted (including payment of the first instalment for the academic year 2023/24), after the necessary administrative checks.

For selections held before August, the student ID number is assigned starting from 1 August 2023.

Changing degree programme to access the first year, from a procedural point of view, differs from standard enrolment only as regards the final stage of the process: you must therefore take part in the selection process like the other candidates (by pre-enrolling and taking the required TOLC), be admitted in the ranking list, and submit the online application for a degree programme change instead of the standard enrolment application.
There are financial implications in relation to the choice between changing degree programme and standard enrolment: the relevant information is available in a dedicated document on the page https://www.unipd.it/cambi-corso.

Changing degree programme does not imply the automatic transfer of any exams/activities already completed from previous academic records to the new one. Interested applicants must submit a specific online application for credit recognition as indicated in the paragraph "In brief: Shortened degree programme". Access arrangements vary depending on the recognitions granted and the proposed year of admission, whether the first year or subsequent years.

Information on the requirements and procedures to follow in order to request a degree programme change is available on the page https://www.unipd.it/cambi-corso.

Please note: anyone accessing the degree programme using a secondary school qualification obtained abroad must follow additional procedures for verification of the entry qualification, as indicated in the admission notice. The procedures for requesting a degree programme change are instead set out on the page https://www.unipd.it/en/degree-programme-change

Transferring from another university to access the first year differs, from a procedural point of view, from standard enrolment only in the final stage of the process: you must therefore take part in the selection process like the other candidates (by pre-enrolling and taking the required TOLC), be admitted in the ranking list, and submit the online application for an incoming transfer instead of the standard enrolment application. It is also necessary to follow the procedures for requesting an outgoing transfer at your home university.
There are financial implications in choosing between an incoming transfer and enrolment: information on this is available in a dedicated document on the page https://www.unipd.it/trasferirsi-altro-ateneo.

An incoming transfer does not imply the automatic transfer of any exams/activities already completed from previous academic careers to the new one. Interested applicants must submit a specific online recognition request as indicated in the paragraph "In brief: Shortening of degree programme". The access arrangements vary depending on the recognitions and the proposed year of admission, whether the first year or subsequent years.

Information on the requirements and procedures to follow in order to request a transfer from another university is available on the page https://www.unipd.it/trasferirsi-altro-ateneo.

Please note: anyone accessing the course using a secondary school qualification obtained abroad must follow additional procedures for the verification of the entry qualification, as indicated in point 6 of the admission notice. The procedures for requesting an incoming transfer are instead set out on the page https://www.unipd.it/en/transfer-from-italian-university

It is possible to request recognition of certified academic and professional activities, and of exams already taken (including abroad), such as single courses or in previous university careers, so that they do not have to be taken again in the Degree Programme to be followed at the University of Padua.

The application for credit recognition must be submitted by following a specific online procedure, available approximately between June and mid-July 2025. Information on how to proceed and the exact dates are published on the page www.unipd.it/domanda-valutazione.
The appointed committee issues a resolution containing the list of recognised exams/activities and the proposed year of admission:
- if admission to the first year is proposed, it is necessary to take part in the entry selections with no difference whatsoever compared with those who have not requested credit recognition;
- if admission to a year of study after the first is proposed, it is necessary to be admitted in the relevant rankings, which may be drawn up on the basis of the number of places available for each year of study, as indicated in the admission notice. If not admitted, it is possible to take part in the entry selections for the first year with no difference whatsoever compared with those who have not requested credit recognition.

The rankings are published on this page (for access to the first year and subsequent years); in the event of admission, the enrolment application, change of course application or incoming transfer application must be submitted by following the instructions provided on the page www.unipd.it/istruzioniaccesso-triennali-magistrali-ciclounico.

The recognised exams are entered in the new career after enrolment and by the first available exam session for the academic year 2025/26.

It is in any case possible, even before submitting the credit recognition application or obtaining the resolution, to take part in the selections for the first year in order to secure a place in the first year within the Degree Programme. The career is then updated automatically by entering the recognitions contained in the resolution and any enrolment in a year of study after the first.

For questions and assistance regarding the submission of the credit recognition application, the issuing of resolutions and the entry of recognised exams in the new career, it is possible to contact the relevant back office for the course of interest: www.unipd.it/backoffice-carriere-studenti.

Attention: anyone accessing the course using an upper secondary school qualification obtained abroad must follow the procedures and meet the deadlines set out on the page https://www.unipd.it/en/credit-recognition
