Giovanni Boschetti is Full Professor of Mechanics of Machines at the Department of Industrial Engineering (DII)

EDUCATION AND POSITIONS
• In March 2000 he received the M.Sc. degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Padova.
• In February 2005 he obtained the Ph.D. in Mechanics of Machines, curriculum Robotics, at the University of Brescia.
• Since January 2006 he is Assistant Professor of Mechanics of Machines at the Department of Management and Engineering (DTG) of the University of Padova (Vicenza , Italy).
• October 2006 / September 2009: He is member of the Board of the Department.
• Since July 2010 he coordinates the teaching activity for the PhD school in Mechatronics and Product Innovation Engineering of the University of Padova.
• October 2010 / September 2014: He manages the TIME (Top Industrial Manager in Europe) project for the bachelor program in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering and for the graduate program in Mechatronics Engineering of the University of Padova.
• February 2012 / September 2023: He is member of the following committees for the graduate program in Mechatronics Engineering of the University of Padova: teaching committee, curricula committee and evaluating committee.
• October 2017 / September 2019: He is vice-president of the graduate program in Mechatronics Engineering of the University of Padova
• October 2019 /September 2023: He is president of the bachelor and of the graduate programs in Mechatronics Engineering of the University of Padova

CHIEF TEACHING ACTIVITIES
Since 2006 he has taught the following courses:
• Graduate Courses: Industrial Robotics.
• Undergraduate Courses: Fundamentals of Mechanics of Machines, Functional design of mechanical systems.
• Ph.D. Schools: courses on field bus and industrial Ethernet for mechatronics systems.
• Lessons as teaching assistant: Mechatronics and automation, Mechanics of machines.

SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES
His current research interests include parallel robotics, cable direct driven robots and industrial automation. He is author or co-author of several papers published in international journals or presented at international conferences and workshops, dealing with theoretical and experimental studies of applied mechanics, performances of parallel robotics, and industrial automation.
He participated to several regional, national and international research projects. He was the principal investigator of a research project for technology transfer (funded by P.F.M. s.p.a.) which led to an international patent for a vertical packaging machine.
The research activity can be grouped in three main areas:
A) Rigid Member and Cable Driven Parallel Manipulators
• Kinematic analysis and synthesis of performance indices for parallel manipulators
• Kinematic and dynamic analysis and synthesis of performance indices of cable driven manipulators for industrial and rehabilitation applications.
B) Industrial Automation
• Design and optimization of manufacturing system for food industries
• Design of industrial systems for flexible automation.
C) Control Systems
• Synthesis, development and experimental validation of non time based control schemes.
• Synthesis of teleoperation systems for heavy duty machines.
• Synthesis, development and experimental validation of teleoperation systems for biomedical applications.
