SAOS is a University welcome desk, which assists incoming international students and scholars (researchers, visiting professors, experts) in organizing and completing the most important procedures for their legal stay in Italy. It offers guidance on immigration rules and Visa application documents. Thanks to a special agreement with the Immigration Office of the local Police Station, it provides help in obtaining the renewal of the permit of stay, in providing accurate information about family reunion procedures, and in booking appointments at the Police Station.

SAOS offers specific support to University departments willing to host foreign researchers for a working period. It also gives general information on public and private services offered in the city and within the University, and keeps in touch with the local Employment Department and the Sportello Unico/UTG Padova, where foreign workers submit all the papers in order to settle their working status.
