4th Meeting of the Coimbra Working Group Heritage

The 4th Meeting of the Coimbra Working Group Heritage will take place in Padua next 30th November-1st December 2017. This will be the occasion for the participants to discuss on several topics related to University collections, from the organizational forms of the museums, to problems connected to restoration and new strategies of communication to the wider public.

On December 1st, a special session, open to the public, will be devoted to “Current trends in Research and Teaching with Academic Collections” (programme). The morning session (9.00-12.35) will be held at Palazzo Bo, Aula Nievo, via VIII Febbraio 1848, 2; the afternoon session (14.00-15.20) will take place at the Museum of Archaeology and Art (Palazzo Liviano), piazza Capitaniato 7.

The Coimbra Group is an association of long-established European universities of high international standard committed to creating special academic and cultural ties in order to promote internationalization, academic collaboration, excellence in learning and research, service to society, and to influence European education and research policy. The Coimbra Group has been founded in 1985 and formally constituted by Charter in 1987.

The Coimbra Group is articulated in several working groups, each of them working on a specific sector related to three policy pillars, Research, Education and Outreach. One of these working groups - the Coimbra Heritage - is focused on the special responsibility for preserving and transmitting as well as articulating and interpreting cultural heritage and its manifold cultural, societal and economic benefits for society.
